Exness, JustMarkets, AvaTrade, LiteFinance, and Tickmill quoted the same EURUSD spread in every recorded minute; RoboForex's widest minute reached 3.00 pips, against an average of 1.33 pips.

Only 4 of the 19 brokers were ever the cheapest EURUSD quote in any matched minute, and Exness held that spot, alone or tied, in 91.6% of the 510 minutes.

What Is a Good EURUSD Spread?

In our test, 0.94 pips or less put a broker in the cheapest quarter of the 19 we tested on EURUSD, and 1.50 pips or more in the most expensive quarter. So on a Standard account, treat 0.94 pips or lower as a good EURUSD spread and 1.50 pips or higher as expensive.

Of the 19 brokers, 5 made the cheapest quarter and 5 the most expensive. If your broker quotes EURUSD at 1.50 pips or more on a Standard account, you are paying more than most traders need to, and it is worth switching.

Is a 1-pip spread good? On EURUSD in our test, 1 pip beats the median broker (1.33 pips) but misses the cheapest quarter (0.94 pips or less). Lower is always better for you: the spread is a cost you pay on every trade.

How to Calculate the EURUSD Spread Cost Per Trade

On EURUSD, one pip is 0.0001. Because the quote currency is the US dollar, one pip is worth $10.00 per standard lot (100,000 euros), $1.00 per mini lot and $0.10 per micro lot in a USD account. You pay the spread once per round trip, when you open the trade.

Spread cost = spread in pips × pip value × number of lots

EURUSD spread cost per trade at the lowest, median and highest broker averages (USD account)
Broker averageSpread (pips)0.01 lot0.1 lot1 lot
Lowest (Exness)0.80$0.08$0.80$8.00
Median (RoboForex)1.33$0.13$1.33$13.34
Highest (XM)1.93$0.19$1.93$19.33

At 100 standard-lot trades a month, the difference between the cheapest and the most expensive broker in our test adds up to about $1,133 a month in spread alone.

EURUSD Spread Analysis for All 19 Brokers

EURUSD avg.: 0.80 pips · Standard account

Exness had the lowest average EURUSD spread in our test, about $5.34 per standard lot cheaper than the median broker. It quoted exactly 0.80 pips in all 510 matched minutes, so its cost never moved during the test. It was the cheapest quote, alone or tied, in 91.6% of matched minutes, more often than any other broker.

When Does the EURUSD Spread Widen?

EURUSD spreads are variable. They are usually tightest when liquidity is deepest and can widen when it thins out, such as around the daily rollover, during quiet hours and around major economic releases or central bank decisions.

Our measurements ran on 9 July 2026, 10:00–19:00 UTC, covering 6 of the 9 hours of the London session, 7 of the 9 hours of the New York session, and all 4 hours of the London–New York overlap. The Tokyo session and the daily rollover (17:00 New York time) fell outside the window, so spreads there can be wider than the averages above.

Hour by hour, the average EURUSD spread across the 19 brokers stayed between 1.26 and 1.28 pips, while the brokers' own averages ranged from 0.80 to 1.93 pips: the broker you choose mattered far more than the hour you trade. Exness had the lowest average in every hour of the test.

Line chart of the EURUSD spread each minute of our test on 9 July 2026: Exness, the lowest average (0.80 pips), RoboForex, the median (1.33 pips), and XM, the highest (1.93 pips).
Exness quoted 0.80 pips in every recorded minute; the widest minute of the three was RoboForex at 3.00 pips.

Why We Test Standard Accounts, Not Raw or Zero

We compare Standard accounts because they are the accounts most traders actually use. A Standard account is a spread-only account: the broker's charge is built into the spread, with no separate commission. It is usually the broker's entry-level account with the lowest minimum deposit, so anyone can open one and trade at the spreads in this ranking.

Raw-spread, Zero, ECN and premium-tier accounts can quote tighter spreads. A raw spread sits close to the interbank price, and the broker adds a commission per lot instead; some brokers also ask for a much larger first deposit to open these accounts. Because most traders can't or don't use them, ranking them next to Standard accounts would not be a fair comparison. Brokers name their Standard-type account differently, so the analysis above shows each tested account under its official name: Standard, Spread-based retail, Pro, Standard STP, MetaTrader 5, MT5 Standard, Classic, and Premium.

If you do trade a Raw or Zero account, convert its commission into pips before comparing: on EURUSD, divide the round-turn commission per standard lot by $10.00. A hypothetical $7 round-turn commission, for example, adds 0.7 pips to the Raw spread.

What Is the EURUSD Spread?

The EURUSD spread is the gap between the Bid price (where you sell) and the Ask price (where you buy). If EURUSD is quoted at 1.08500 Bid and 1.08510 Ask, the bid/ask spread is 0.00010, or 1 pip.

Most platforms quote EURUSD to five decimal places. The fifth decimal is a fractional pip, often called a pipette or point, so 10 points equal 1 pip.

How We Measured EURUSD Spreads

We recorded one EURUSD quote per minute on live Standard or equivalent accounts at all 19 brokers on 9 July 2026, 10:00–19:00 UTC, kept only valid readings, and compared brokers on the same 510 matched minutes. EURUSD Spread FAQs

Which broker has the lowest spread on EURUSD?

Exness, in our test of 19 Standard accounts: it averaged 0.80 pips and was the cheapest quote, alone or tied, in 91.6% of matched minutes. IC Markets (0.86) and OANDA (0.86 pips) came next.

What is the average EURUSD spread?

The typical EURUSD spread on a Standard account was 1.27 pips: that is the average across the 19 Standard accounts we tested on 9 July 2026, and the median broker averaged 1.33 pips. The cheapest broker, Exness, averaged 0.80 pips and the most expensive 1.93 pips.

What does a 0.3 or 0.6 spread mean on EURUSD?

The Ask price is 0.00003 or 0.00006 above the Bid. On one standard lot in a USD account that costs about $3.00 or $6.00 per trade. Both would beat every Standard account in our test, where the lowest average was Exness at 0.80 pips.

Is there a broker with a zero EURUSD spread?

Not on a Standard account in our test: none of the 19 brokers averaged zero, and the tightest single quote in 510 minutes was 0.60 pips at OANDA. Some brokers advertise zero spreads on Raw or Zero accounts, which charge a commission per lot instead.

How can I check the live EURUSD spread?

Spreads change minute by minute, so this ranking shows averages from our test rather than live quotes. In MetaTrader 5, right-click the Market Watch window, choose Columns and enable Spread, then find EURUSD in the list. MT5 shows the spread in points, so divide by 10 to get pips on a five-digit quote.

Why is my EURUSD spread higher than advertised?

Broker websites usually advertise a minimum or "from" spread, the tightest quote the account can show. Your real spread also depends on the account type and the time of day, and it widens around the daily rollover and major news. An average across many minutes, like the figures in this ranking, is a fairer guide to what you will pay.
